Dear Neighbor,

We have some exciting news for our community!

The Advisory Board for South Setauket Park has approved development of a 300’ x 150’ park on the Strathmore Village Drive side of our large greenbelt.  The Park will have large buffers of undeveloped space to preserve the privacy of surrounding residents and will provide a large space for our community to enjoy.

The new park will be a beautiful addition to our community.  Half of the space will be a large lawn and the other half will be a picnic area under the trees.  The lawn will be irrigated and the picnic area mulched with wood chips.  The space will begin just behind the gazebo and continue 300’ to the left of it. The split rail fence will be left in place to ensure the park is protected from ATV’s.

The Town has worked closely with the nine members of the Advisory Board and has provided guidance concerning design, permits, liability, and the environment.  In fact, the Town will have a horticulturist on site to make sure we preserve as many healthy trees as possible while clearing the space. Cost for the project will be paid for out of the Park District funds.

We are fortunate to have so much open space in the large greenbelt and now our community will be able to use more of it. The project will begin in a few days and will be completed sometime in June, barring any weather delays.  Please contact us with any questions you may have and we will forward them to the Park District Advisory Board.
